Maintenance Tips

At Economy Paving we believe that an educated consumer is our best customer. We often get asked about various maintenance tips and wanted to share our thoughts.

  • Inspect your property on a regular basis.
  • Do not irrigate asphalt, concrete and wall surfaces or their substrates.
  • Make sure heavy truck service access areas are properly designed for their use; these areas often require an upgrade from their initial design.
  • Keep weeds, vegetation detritus and debris off asphalt and concrete surfaces.
  • Asphalt cracks should be sealed annually.
  • Potholes should be properly repaired when observed; delaying patch work will increase your cost to repair and pose a safety hazard.
  • Sidewalk heaving should be repaired immediately as a safety concern.
  • Control drainage onto and from asphalt and concrete infrastructure in accordance with surface design.
  • Seal coating does help preserve the life of asphalt and improves appearance, but is not a substitute for repair or a wear surface.
  • If you have standing water on your parking lot after rains and snows, call a contractor to get an evaluation of how your exterior surfaces are draining and what can be done to improve the situation.
